Bri Aberdeen
Bri is a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPCc) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.
Bri understands the nature of the work you do together is not a one-size-fits-all offering, it is tailored to your needs and the goals you are striving to achieve. She believes it is foundationally important that you find a counsellor who is the right fit for you, one that enables you to be seen in your vulnerability. With nearly a decade of support work and education facilitation under her belt, she can attest that one of the keys to connection is our ability to be vulnerable. Bri believes that our ability to heal, grow, and learn new things about ourselves is deeply intimate and emotional work that relies upon safe connection in relationships, as a vehicle for our personal evolution.
In her years of service, she has witnessed time and again, the vulnerability of a person in the midst of great change. She has learned through experience that relational care can be life-affirming. Bri believes there are so many people in need of unconditional positive regard and her biggest driving force is to support you and others in feeling seen, heard, and accepted as you are.
Bri has an array of experience supporting people who are navigating: big life transformations, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, pregnancy and post-delivery, co-parenting and single parenthood, separation and divorce, as well as, couples and familial counselling.
Her approach towards this work is collaborative, she trusts you know what’s best for yourself at any given moment, although she knows that sometimes you need help teasing out exactly what that is. Bri’s co-pilot approach is grounded in seeing you as a part of larger familial and cultural systems, your physical representation in the world, the stories of migration that trace your lineage, and an understanding of your mind-body connection. As an integrative practitioner, she borrows techniques and understanding from Person-Centered Theory, Poly-Vagal Theory, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Existential Theory, Mindfulness Practices and Post-Modern Theories, as well as other modalities as needed.
Bri has always desired to be of service to those around her. Her personal and professional experiences in the last decade have only cemented this sentiment. She believes that some of us are not fortunate enough to experience unconditional positive regard in our relationships when we need it most, she knows we must experience this in connection with others if we are to actualize our purpose and potential. It is her sincerest hope that she can be of support to those of you who are seeking acceptance of who you are, as you are while reaching for all that you desire to experience in your one precious life.
Outside of work, you can catch her engaging in dance, music, and whipping up culinary creations. She is a single mom to an amazing preschool-age girl. She is relatively new to Vernon and enjoys playful exploration of the surrounding countryside in her VW campervan with her daughter.
